Saudi Arabia Launches Unified Employment Portal to Boost Job Opportunities Sectors
The creation of Jadarat is a significant step in the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to enhance human capital and align labor market demand with supply
Saudi Arabia has officially launched the Jadarat platform, a unified national employment portal aimed at expanding job opportunities for citizens in both the public and private sectors. The platform, unveiled by the Kingdom’s Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, Ahmed Al-Rajhi, is a strategic initiative aligned with Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia’s ambitious plan to diversify its economy and reduce unemployment among its citizens.
The creation of Jadarat is a significant step in the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to enhance human capital and align labor market demand with supply. Speaking at the launch ceremony, Minister Al-Rajhi emphasized the platform’s role in addressing unemployment, which stood at 7.6 percent among Saudi nationals in the first quarter of 2024, according to a report by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). This figure represents a slight decrease from the previous quarter and a year-on-year drop of 1.1 percentage points.
“We launched today the unified national platform for employment, Jadarat, as an extension of the combined efforts of government sectors to develop human capital, to match supply and demand in the labor market, and to be a front for employment in the public and private sectors, in line with the objectives of Vision 2030,” Al-Rajhi announced on his social media page.
The Jadarat platform is designed to streamline the job-search process by integrating data from two previous employment portals, Taqat and Jadarah, which focused on employment support and online recruitment, respectively. With more than 70,000 job opportunities available across various sectors, the platform offers customizable search options, enabling users to filter jobs by region, career path, and skill set.
The platform is also expected to play a critical role in empowering Saudi nationals and increasing their participation in the labor market. Turki Al-Juwaini, Director of the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), highlighted that the fund invested SR3.79 billion ($1.01 billion) in the first half of 2024 to support employment and training programs in the Kingdom.
The launch of Jadarat follows the successful completion of its pilot phase in October 2022, during which it connected job seekers with available positions across the public and private sectors. The platform’s full-scale launch is anticipated to further bolster the Kingdom’s labor market, which has seen a steady improvement in recent years.
According to GASTAT, the employment-to-population ratio for Saudi women increased by 0.6 percentage points to 30.7 percent in the first quarter of 2024, while their labor force participation rate rose by 0.8 points to 35.8 percent. Saudi male workers also saw gains, with the employment-to-population ratio and labor force participation rate increasing by 1.2 and 1.0 points, respectively, reaching 63.6 percent and 66.4 percent.
The GASTAT report also noted that 95.9 percent of unemployed Saudi nationals are open to working in the private sector, reflecting a growing willingness among Saudis to engage in various industries beyond traditional government roles.
As the Kingdom continues to pursue its Vision 2030 objectives, the Jadarat platform is poised to become a key tool in achieving sustainable economic growth and reducing unemployment among Saudi citizens.
