MMPRC showcases Maldives’ luxury and unique experiences at IFTM Top Resa 2024, targeting French tourists through interactive promotions.
The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), also known as Visit Maldives, is actively promoting the Maldives as a top holiday destination at IFTM Top Resa 2024, taking place from the 17th to 19th of September in Paris, France. This premier travel trade show aims to attract key travel buyers across all segments, including business, leisure, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). A delegation of 35 representatives from 21 companies within the Maldivian tourism sector is participating alongside Visit Maldives at this significant event.
At the heart of the Maldives' presence at IFTM Top Resa is a 121-square-metre stand designed to showcase the destination’s unique blend of luxury, sustainability, and natural beauty. The stand highlights the Maldives' world-class luxury resorts, its vibrant marine life, and the natural allure that has made it a bucket-list destination for travellers around the globe. Additionally, the stand features the Maldives' famed honeymoon and underwater experiences, giving visitors a taste of the unforgettable memories awaiting them.
To further captivate attendees, the Maldives stand also includes a display of traditional local cuisine, along with promotional videos that highlight the country’s breathtaking landscapes, sustainable tourism practices, and the warm hospitality that defines the Maldivian experience. These elements are designed to immerse visitors in the essence of the Maldives and inspire them to explore its many wonders.
A series of engagement activities have been planned to interact with travel trade partners and potential agents, including scheduled meetings with travel trade partners, marketing agencies, and media outlets. To further entice visitors, the stand is hosting a raffle giveaway offering free holidays to the Maldives, sponsored by luxury resorts Brennia Kottefaru, Joy Island Maldives by The Cocoon Collection, and Robinson Noonu Maldives. Attendees can enter the raffle by participating in surveys at the stand, adding an exciting and interactive element to the Maldives’ presence at the event. A press pack in French is also being distributed to provide the latest updates and reinforce the Maldives' strategic positioning within the French market.
As of August 2024, the French market ranks 8th in terms of tourist arrivals to the Maldives, with 35,202 French tourists having visited the country. MMPRC is actively working to increase arrivals in key segments such as luxury, family holidays, and sustainable tourism through ongoing promotional campaigns and marketing efforts targeting French travellers. A cornerstone of these efforts is the “Discover Maldives” webinar series, which began with a focus on the French market and has been met with considerable success.
Looking ahead, Visit Maldives has several upcoming initiatives aimed at further boosting the Maldives’ presence in France. These include a media familiarisation trip, the continuation of the "VeryChic" joint marketing campaign, further editions of the “Discover Maldives” webinar series, and participation in the prestigious ILTM Cannes event. Through these efforts, MMPRC is committed to strengthening the Maldives' brand in France, ensuring that the “Sunny Side of Life” continues to resonate with French travellers and remains a top destination of choice.
With its unmatched beauty, luxurious offerings, and strong focus on sustainability, the Maldives is positioning itself as an unparalleled destination for French tourists seeking unforgettable travel experiences, whether for leisure, family vacations, or eco-conscious adventures.
